We’re getting very close to Mother’s Day and I feel like this is one that always creeps up on us! So, if you’re looking for a great last minute gift for the lovely lady in your life, then check out this quick and easy homemade lemon rosemary sugar scrub recipe! It’s great made beforehand or even as a fun activity for your littles to do with mom! Give it a try and let me know what you think!
For this recipe, you’ll need some sugar, the oil of your choice (just grab whatever you have around the house), some lemons and rosemary. I have used olive oil, coconut oil, and avocado oil. All three work great but I have to say that if you’re looking for that really good lemon scent, the avocado oil has the least amount of scent. The small jars I have here are simply for gifting purposes, so if you’re using this at home, you can put it in any container you have around.
I have included pictures of both the olive oil and coconut oil versions below after all ingredients have been prepped. From here, everything is really easy to throw together!
For this scrub you will need lemon juice, lemon zest, rosemary, sugar, and the oil of your choice. Once you have all ingredients measured out, you simply put them all in one bowl and stir to combine. I mean, it doesn’t get much easier than that!
Here, you can see both the olive oil and coconut versions next to each other. The look and consistency are very different with both but they work the same! Now you’re ready to make it for yourself or gift it to a friend! Check out the recipe below and reference the gift guide for a few more tips to add that decorative finishing touch.
Gift Guide
To add a decorative touch to your sugar scrub, put the scrub in a cute glass jar and wrap with simple cooking string. You can wrap around just the base of the jar or all the way around to give different looks. Don’t forget to add a sprig of rosemary and you’re ready for gifting!

I love this scrub! I keep it by my kitchen sink in a short flat mason jar – easy to dip my fingers into it.
Recently I was cutting and arranging some fresh eucalyptus branches and my hands got super sticky from the sap. I couldn’t get it off no matter how many times I washed my hands. Then one round with this sugar scrub left them unsticky, soft, and smelling pretty!
Bonus: because it is a sugar scrub, I don’t get the ouch factor of a salt scrub which would accentuate any little cuts on my hands.
